I’m a bit of a hippy, so when I heard Beautycounter, I was intrigued. Beautycounter is a skincare AND makeup line that prohibits 1,500 potentially harmful ingredients from its products (vs. the FDA’s sole 30 they have prohibited). I started slowly trying Beautycounter out.
Now, it’s my go-to for makeup and skincare.
I won’t pretend I’m obsessed with everything (for instance, I’m not into their mascara at all), but I will share my very favorites that I buy with my own money over and over again.
Before I dive in, if you want to know more about my nightly skincare routine and the other products I use (Beautycounter or not), go here.
My go-to’s for SKINCARE:

1) Oil Cleanser: One of the biggest things that has helped is washing my face with oil. It seems counterintuitive if you have oily skin, but I swear by it! I use an inexpensive one from Amazon, HERE. I do a double wash with a microfiber cloth, and follow up with a gel cleanser too (I’m not picky about which one.)
2) Toner: This is a gentle toner that’s really hydrating + nourishing, and you can just pat it into the skin. I use it first thing out of the shower in the morning and first thing after washing my face at night. I didn’t think it made such a difference for my skin until our recent move and I couldn’t locate mine for a week. I broke out so much and had way more clogged pores. I ordered a back-up right away, and my skin recovered quickly.
3) Overnight peel: This is like a gentle chemical peel. You can do it every night, but I use it every other night, just to be extra careful with my extra-sensitive skin. It’s made my skin so soft and helped brighten my face and minimize pores.
4) Eye cream: I LOOOOVE this eye cream so much! It’s not greasy, but thick enough that a tiny bit goes a long way. I use it morning and night. I never let myself run out.
5) Serum: The whole “Countertime” line is amazing. This serum is, too. I do this after toner, before moisturizer–at night.
6) Deep moisturizer: This baby is THICK and creamy, but somehow non-clogging. I use it after serum at night.
7) Brightening Serum: I told you I love all things brightening, but my goodness–this serum is amazing!!! I love how golden it is, and it’s proven to brighten skin and diminish dark spots. I use it every other morning before my moisturizer, only because it’s a little spendy:)
8) Brightening oil: I dealt with a lot of dark spots and malasma after having my last child. Give me all things “brightening!” I just use a tiny bit and layer it on top of my moisturizer at night to seal in alllll the good stuff. (Then I use this gua sha tool, too.)
9) Daily moisturizer: I LOVE this anti-oxidant moisturizer!!! I use it in the AM after toner and eye cream. (For SPF, I use THIS spray mineral sunscreen for my morning walks/runs, and this Dew Skin foundation every day–it’s their CC cream, so light coverage.)
10) Charcoal soap: My EA, Taylor, was the one who told me it changed her life, ha! So I got one to find out for myself, and a year later–it’s a staple. I use it in the shower on my face and on my back. It clears up my pores and helps with body acne SOOOO much, it’s surprising.

1) Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer: this is BC’s CC cream. I use the shades “Light” and “Medium,” depending on the season and my skin’s natural coloration. It’s light coverage, has SPF, and is usually all I use on my face, but some days I mix it with what’s next . . .
2) Twin Skin Foundation: they have a LOT of shades here! This is their full-coverage foundation and I adore it. It covers up what I want covered, without it feeling cakey. I use the shade “Light 230.”
3) Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: I actually prefer BC’s skin twin concealer, but it’s not available right now until next Spring:( This is a cult favorite for a reason though! It’s creamy, great coverage, and lasts a long time.
4) Color Outline Eyeliner: I’ve had mine in “Brown” for years, and I use it almost every day. It’s the perfect soft shade and still gives me definition. I also have it in “Black” and have my eye on “Violet.”
5) Brow Gel: Even though my brows are naturally fairly dark, this in “Medium” helps keep the hairs in place + give just enough definition. (I also use their brow pencil when I have a random bald spot to fill in.)
6) Think Big Mascara: BC finally has a good mascara, ha! It’s TOUGH to make a good, but clean, mascara, friends! I love this new formula. My back up is still the Honest mascara–which I’ve used for years.
7) Sheer lipstick: I have EVERY shade! This lipstick is the perfect blend of chapstick and lipstick. The shades are saturated, but reallllly forgiving in application. I have tubes in every bag, in my car, and in my desk too. And I use them on my cheeks too, when I’m on the go.
8) Cheeky Clean Cream Blush: This is a fairly new product for BC, and I”m in love. I used to use their cream blush in a tube, but I like this version even better. I just apply it directly to my cheeks and then pat it in to blend. It also seals up into a dry finish quickly, so I don’t feel like it can wipe right off like most cream blushes.
9) Powder: I don’t know if BC has one, but I’ve used bare minerals light powder with SPF for years. It seals in all the goodness!
When I’m going for a more “night time” (aka, “church”) look, I usually ONLY use the twin skin foundation and also add in these things: Glow First Primer: It’s a GOOD one, folks! Make it your first step before applying your makeup. Illuminating Cream Highlighter: I get this in “Bronze” and use it to do a light contour. I also often use it as eye shadow, and LOVE it! Lid Glow Cream Shadow: This stuff is magical. It dries like a powder, is forgiving in application, but also sooo pretty. I love the shades “Flash” and “Dusk,” and have my eye on a few others.
I only become affiliates with companies and products I can put my full support behind AND that I actually buy with my own money. I hope this helps you, and thank you for helping me keep my business and podcast running.
