“Do Something” started with this post. In a nutshell, fear has stopped me from doing, oh, just about everything. I am tired of it, and I know I am not the only one.
I would love to see this become a movement, even if it’s only twenty people.
Think of something that scares you. Is it calling insurance? (Ha! I’m there about twice a month.) Is it having a hard conversation? Is it changing careers? Is it improving your health? Is it wearing that cute dress that is a little out of your comfort zone?
I know I am not the only one who wants to be better and do better. The way we get there is bit by bit, so this “movement” isn’t about tackling the scariest thing on your list. Start simple! And once you’ve done that first thing, go on to the next. And the next, and the next.
I’ve started! I’ve gone to a ballet class. I’ve remodeled my fireplace. And right now, I’m working on not eating a It’s-My-Birthday type of dessert every stinking night. (I know, I know–it’s just scary for me, OK?!)
Some friends have started, too. Most have talked to me about it privately, but I’ve also got some guest posts coming your way, in addition to round-ups of what I’ve seen people do.
Do something that scares you!
And if you do, please feel free to share. Check out my contact page and get in touch. I’d love to share your success, or even a funny story from what happened when you tried.
